18-year-old killed as car and bus collide

An 18-year-old Emirati was killed and three others injured by a bus driven by an Asian man yesterday afternoon, according to Ras Al Kaimah police.Colonel Abdullah Ali Hassin Minkhis, director of the Traffic Department, said the teenager, identified as A.S.A, and his three friends were driving in the Wadi Al Ajeela area when a bus driven by 40-year-old G.M.K. swerved into them.The injured trio were identified as G.S.A., 23, and 18-year-olds A.KH.M. and S.KH.M.Colonel Minkhis said the bus swerved because of the curve of the road, blaming speeding and poor concentration for the accident.The road is full up with mud due to the rain in the past few days, which led to the slipping of the bus driver towards the small car,\" Colonel Minkhis said, adding that both drivers tried to avoid the collision.Police patrols and an ambulance arrived at the scene but could do nothing to help A.S.A.His body was taken to hospital and later handed over to his family while his friends were kept in for treatment.The case has been transferred to public prosecution.
