At least 26 Iraqi people were killed and 52 others injured in powerful explosions in two different areas in the capital, Baghdad, on Monday, a security source said.
A suicide-bomber detonated the booby-trapped car he was driving near a police partrol in Al-Khadhmiya, northern Baghdad, killing 22 people including six policemen, and injuring 43 others, the source told KUNA.
The explosion caused damage to civilian and police vehicles, he added.
Ambulances rushed to the scene of the blast and the wounded were taken to Al-Khadhmiya hospital.
Four civilians were killed and nine wounded in a powerful blast caused by an explosive device in a market in Al-Sadr City. Most of the victims were women and children.
The explosion is part of a series of blast that rocked Baghdad and other cities since the beginning of this month, claiming more than 500 people.
