Four terrorists have been killed in a shootout with military troops in Sheikh Zuwaid and el Arish cities in North Sinai, the army spokesman said Wednesday.
Twenty-seven wanted elements have also been arrested as part of an anti-terror campaign in the peninsula, Mohamed Samir said in a statement.
He added that 28 terrorist sites, including nine underground hideouts, have also been destroyed.
As many as 17 cars and 47 motorcycles, all plateless, have been destroyed as well, Samir said, noting that those are usually used in terrorist operations against military and police troops.
An anti-tank mine has also been defused in Nagaa Shabana area in Rafah as part of the campaign, Samir added.
