
An explosion occurred this morning in one of the tanks of liquefied petroleum gas during maintenance works in services area at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Hospital of the National Guard in Madinah, which led to a fire in the tanks building and damage to the surrounding area.
In a statement, carried by the Saudi Press Agency, the Department of the Hospital's Public Relations and Information Affairs and the Directorate of Civil Defense in Madinah said that the incident initially resulted in the death of five people in addition to damaging some vehicles in the area surrounding the site, without reporting any injuries.
The statement noted that the main building of the hospital was not affected and investigations are still underway to determine the cause of the explosion.
