Acting general prosecutor Ali Omran has referred 53 defendants of the Muslim Brotherhood and a pro-MB coalition to the military judiciary.
The prosecution's decision followed investigations, under a law on security of public and vital facilities, into the killing of a high-ranking police officer.
The defendants were involved in plots, upon directives from leaders of the terrorist group, to create chaos in the country "in attacks on state institutions", the probe say.
Some of the accused leaders are abroad, according to the investigations.
Blasts that occurred in several sites in Cairo were among the attacks plotted by the defendants.
In December 2013, Egypt designated the MB as terrorist organization and blamed it for a series of terrorist and violent acts.
