
Heavy rain killed six people and caused material damage to 400 houses in the Libyan western city of Zawiya on Saturday. In a statement obtained by Xinhua, Zawiya Social Affairs Committee's head Imad Faitouri said that Zawiya, 50 km west of the capital Tripoli, suffered heavy rain on Friday overnight until Saturday early morning, followed by partial flooding in several areas of the city. The floods left six citizens dead and damaged 400 houses in Anjarafat area, he added. The death toll of the recent heavy rain in Libya went up to 10 dead. In the first week of December, Libya witnessed the heaviest rain in 40 years.
