
Six soldiers have been killed in the city of Benghazi due to the ongoing clashes at the Benina International Airport for the fourth day in a row, a well-placed military source told MENA correspondent here.
On Wednesday, fierce clashes erupted between militants from the Shura Revolutionary Council, which includes Ansar al-Sharia group, and army troops to take control of the airport.
The army warplanes have targeted Islamist militants’ positions in various areas in Benghazi, he said.
Libya plunged into violence after the toppling of dictator Muammar Qaddafi in 2011 as competing groups took up arms against each other to claim power in the oil-rich country.
