6000 security personnel to retake Ramadi from Daesh

At least 6,000 security personnel are preparing to mount a counteroffensive to reclaim the pivotal western Iraqi city of Ramadi from the terrorist Daesh group, security expert Hisham el Hashimy said.

Under the two-staged plan, the anti-terror squads along policemen would lead the first stage while the local police and the armed tribal men would join the operations in its second stage, el Hashimy told Al Ghad Al Arabi TV on Wednesday.

The security teams would flow in the city from two ways, he said, adding, the first group will park near a bridge named Baleares while the second team will join the attack from Al-Khalidiya.

The Iraqi government has provided training for about 5,000 tribal men to join the operation, he said.

The main target of the operation to push Daesh militants out the city, he made it clear, saying, the forces would avoid making the pivotal city a "battle ground".

At least 80,000 civilians were forced to stay at the city, he said.

Also, he warned against impending disaster as the terrorists take residential areas as their residences.
