About 6,253,987 voters have cast their ballots in the runoff of the second round of Egypt's parliamentary elections, constituting 22.3 percent of the eligible voters, the head of the High Elections Commission (HEC) said on Friday.

"The parliamentary vote is the last step of a political roadmap that started with drafting a new constitution and electing a president of the country," Ayman Abbas told a press conference to announce the results of the runoff of the second round of the elections which were held in 13 governorates, including Cairo.

"Only four constituencies with 13 seats are remaining for voting which will take place inside and outside Egypt on December 5-7 for the first round and December 14-16 for the second round," he said.

He noted that the runoff elections were held in 99 constituencies for the individual seats in 12,416 polling stations.

As many as 426 candidates competed to win 213 seats in the runoff of the second round while 282 lawmakers –60 on the list seats and 222 on the individual seats- have won in the second round as a whole, he added.

As many as 85 winners of the individual seats belong to political parties and 137 others are independents, he said.

Twelve women and 17 young people were among the winners of the individual seats, he added.

The 60 winners of the list all belong to "For Love of Egypt" list, he said.
