Seventy-five partners have participated so far in the consultations on the revision of the Constitution, launched early in June at the initiative of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, said Friday in Algiers Minister of State, Principle Private Secretary to the Presidency of the Republic Ahmed Ouyahia.
"It's thanks to President Bouteflika, who has reached out to all without exclusion to work together for a consensual Constitution, that these consultations are being held with the participation, so far, of 75 partners, political parties, civil society and national personalities," Ouyahia told a press conference held at El-Mithaq Residency in Algiers.
He also underlined that the "revision of the Constitution is not being held in a context of crisis as it was the case for the previous revisions," adding that "these meetings aim at strengthening the separation of powers and the role of Parliament, offering a place to the opposition, consolidating citizens' rights and freedoms and promoting democracy."
Ouyahia said that these issues were recommended during the consultations by most of the participants.
