Abadi dismisses reports on resignation

A source close to Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi denied reports that the prime minister had decided to resign.

In press statements Sunday, the source described the reports as groundless, adding the prime minister is going ahead with efforts to introduce reforms.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the prime minister Saad al Hadithi said Abadi will visit the Russian capital Moscow within days to discuss means to arm the Iraqi army and opening the file of Russian investments in Iraq.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and special envoy of President Mikhail Bogdanov conveyed an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to the prime minister to visit Moscow to discuss the development of bilateral relations between the two countries and providing weapons to the army to fight Daesh, said the spokesman.
