
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, took part today in the meeting held in Riyadh between the GCC Foreign Minister and their Yemeni counterpart and Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Malik al Mikhlafi.
The meeting discussed the situation in Yemen and means to enhance cooperation between the GCC countries and Yemen in all fields, including joint coordination to support peace and security in Yemen and to push the UN efforts for political dialogues among the parties there, as well as stepping up delivery of humanitarian assistance to the people in all provinces of Yemen.
Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al Jubeir welcomed the ministers and underlined the importance of the meeting in developing cooperation between the GCC countries and Yemen.
He went on to say to say that the meeting is held in the light of current efforts of the Arab Coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen and the progress of the political process, based on the outcome of the national dialogues, the GCC Initiative and the Security Council resolution 2216.
"The GCC realizes that the security of Yemen is integral to its security and stability and therefore, we are committed to continuing our efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to the brotherly people in all provinces of Yemen and to supporting development and stability in Yemen," he said.
The meeting was attended by Ahmed Ali Al Baloushi, Director of the GCC Countries' Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
