The CableCar project is expected to include five stations
Abu Dhabi - Emirates Voice

The Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT) is mulling the idea of introducing cable cars at Al Maqtaa and Al Bahya corniche.

The provisional concept of the project indicates that it will span an area of 160 thousand square meters with a total floor area of about 74 thousand square meters.

The project under consideration will cost about Dh650 million and aims to transform Al Bahya Corniche into a premier entertainment destination for residents of the Mainland.

The estimated cost of Al Maqtaa Cable Car Project is in the range of Dh350 million. The project links with tourist and key projects at Al Maqtaa, forming a transit means in an area characterised by picturesque views from a mobile car.

The CableCar project is expected to include five stations starting from Al Maqtaa Creek parallel to Abu Dhabi - A- Ain Road nearby Al Maqtaa Bridge.

The second station is Khalifa Park, followed by Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the fourth is near Ritz Carlton. The project then turns to the Arabian Gulf Street in a route parallel to Musaffah Bridge to terminate at the fifth and final station at the Canal Project and Al Barri Souk.

DMAT said in a statement said the aim of such projects is to realise the aspirations of residents and visitors of the Emirate, besides promoting the profile of Abu Dhabi as a global tourist hub and one of the best places for living, working and visiting.
