
Prospects of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) joint action were the focus of talks held here on Thursday between Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan and a Saudi delegation led by Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal.
The meeting also discussed "means of fostering bilateral cooperation in all fields for achieving the common strategic interests of both countries and peoples" said an official statement carried by the UAE News Agency (WAM).
It also reviewed the GCC march and stressed keenness by the two member countries to support joint action for the good of the member states and their peoples "empowering them to face looming dangers and challenges." Regional developments also featured high on the meeting agenda.
According to the statement, the Saudi Foreign Minister conveyed greetings by King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud to the UAE president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Saudi delegation which is on a Gulf tour that so far included Qatar, Bahrain and UAE led by Al-Faisal, includes Saudi Intelligence Chief Prince Khalid bin Bandar Al-Saud, and Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
Attending the talks from the UAE side were General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan - Deputy National Security Advisor, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan - Foreign Minister, and Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash - Minister of State for Foreign Affairs as well as other senior officials.
