"The move is part of a comprehensive plan to intensify police patrols on various roads in both Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region to facilitate the traffic flow and enable all segments of society celebrate this dear national occasion in an atmosphere of joy," he added He called on all segments of society to contribute positively by adhering to the traffic laws to celebrate the event under the slogan "To Celebrate Spirit of the Union without Irregularities," and express their joy on this national occasion through positive co-operation with the traffic personnel deployed on all the roads to provide safety.

Brig. Al Dhaheri stressed the need to adhere to the terms of decoration and tinting of the vehicles during the national day celebrations as set by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police to ensure everyone's safety.

"These regulations prohibit colouring of the windshield of the vehicle or darkening the side or rear glass with plaster. The specific tinting of side or rear glass should be 30 percent. Passengers in a vehicle should not exceed the number allowed. No one is allowed to come out of windows or open the vehicle roof during driving. No passenger is allowed to stand above the surface of the vehicle, or forefront or behind it, or sit on the vehicle's windows when it is in motion," he said.

Al Dhaheri urged motorists not to show off on the roads, disrupt the traffic, park in prohibited places or block the road for others, or attach noise-making equipment on vehicles, or make changes to the engine. He also called on them not to change the colour of vehicle or obliterate the front or rear numbers.
