The African Union (AU) said Monday the report of the AU Commission of Inquiry on South Sudan has not yet been released.
The Chairperson of the AU Commission, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, notes with concern the recent circulation of what is purported to be the report of the AU Commission of Inquiry on South Sudan, said a statement from AU.
The Chairperson wishes to state categorically that the so- called 'report' that is said to have been leaked is not that of the Commission of Inquiry, said the statement.
The Chairperson further wishes to reassure the public, especially, the South Sudanese citizens, that the report of the Commission of Inquiry has not been publicly released to anyone, it said.
During the 24th AU Summit of Heads of State and Government, the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) held on January 29 at which the final report of the Commission of Inquiry was submitted, recalled the statement.
The AUPSC deferred the consideration of the report to a later date, according to the statement.
The Chairperson, therefore, wishes to emphasise that as soon as the AUPSC considers the report and makes a decision on its release to the public the report of the Commission of Inquiry will be realised accordingly.
