
Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby on Monday commended efforts by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah which helped reach an agreement among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) leaders in Riyadh on Sunday.
His Highness the Amir, head of the current Arab Summit, and fellow GCC leaders exerted sincere efforts to reach the agreement "to heal the rift and turn over a new leaf" in the GCC scene, Al-Araby said in a statement.
The agreement will positively influence efforts seeking to boost GCC march and the holistic Arab ties as well as security, stability and interests of the region and peoples, he adedd.
The significant outcome of the Riyadh consultative meeting will considerably contribute to clearing the atmosphere and give an impetus to the Arab joint action amid critical conditions and huge challenges facing the Arab World, he noted.
Following Sunday understanding in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain announced they would return their ambassadors to Qatar, marking an end to a rift with Doha after the envoys were withdrawn in March.
