Al Azhar, the highest Sunni authority in the world, mourned the death of seven Egyptian Armed Forces servicemen in a terror act on Sunday in el-Arish, north Sinai.
An explosive charge went off while armored vehicles were traveling on El-Arish ring road.
A statement issued by Al Azhar Monday extended deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs.
The statement said such acts of terror will not affect the will of Egyptians and Armed Forces, calling on all Egyptians to stand against such abominable criminal acts which are alien to society.
Egypt has been hit by several terror acts in North Sinai, which killed hundreds of police and military personnel since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi in July of last year.
