Al-Azhar strongly condemned France's bombardment of an Iraqi school in Mosul city early on Wednesday, an attack that left at least 28 students dead and others wounded.
Targeting children and innocent civilians will not eradicate terrorism, but will increase such a phenomenon, Al-Azhar said in a statement.
Inaccuracy in targeting the terrorist hotbeds, leading to casualties among innocents, is a kind of terrorism which is not different from those acts perpetrated by Daesh, the statement added.
Al-Azhar urged France to launch an immediate investigation into the incident and announce the findings.
