
Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashed Al-Zayani, the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met at his office here today with the UN Secretary General's envoy for Yemen Ismail Would Al-Sheikh Ahmed.
During the meeting, they discussed the efforts being exerted by the UN Secretary General in preparation for the 3rd round of political consolations between Yemeni parties, in continuation to consultations held in Switzerland in mid-December 2015 as well as the relief efforts exerted to deliver humanitarian assistance to alleviate the sufferings of the Yemeni people in all Yemeni provinces.
For his part, the GCC secretary general confirmed the support of the six-nation organization for the efforts of the UN envoy and the importance of implementing the UN Security Council resolution No. 2216 to push the political process according to the GCC initiative and the outcome of the comprehensive national dialogue, calling for double efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance and essential needs to the Yemeni people, particularly those in the city of Taiz.
The meeting was attended by GCC senior officials.
