Algeria has regretted the deterioration in the Saudi-Iranian relations, said a statement by Algerian Foreign Ministry.
Algeria is following up with great concern the mounting tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran, said the statement.
Algeria stressed the necessity to show strict respect for the principles of relations among countries, especially the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and the protection of diplomatic and consular missions in every place and under any circumstances, added the statement.
Algeria has called on the political leaders in both countries to show self-restraint, hoping that the crisis between both countries could be contained immediately.
Saudi Arabia cut ties after Iran protested its execution of a prominent opposition Shiite cleric and crowds attacked its diplomatic posts in the Islamic Republic.
