
The Algerian Muslim Scouts (SMA) has proposed the strengthening of mechanisms for the promotion of the civil society's role in the decision-making as a "key partner" in the governance, the achievement of development programmes and the consolidation of democratic practices, said Wednesday in Algiers SMA Commander Noureddine Benbraham.
In a statement to the press at the end of his meeting with Minister of State, Principle Private Secretary Ahmed Ouyahia, as part of the consultations on the revision of the Constitution, Benbraham said that he also made proposals relating to the nature of the political system.
In this regard, he said that SMA is for a semi-presidential system.
Benbraham said that he also underlined the need to promote and consolidate human rights as well as the rights of children, persons with disability and the elderly.
He added that his meeting with Ouyahia was an opportunity to discuss political issues and the ways to preserve the social cohesion.
