East Amman criminal police on Tuesday arrested a man who confessed to killing a citizen by hurling a rock that struck him in the head as he was driving along the main street in the suburb of Sahab, the Public Security Department (PSD) said.
A PSD statement said that a team, assigned to investigate Sunday night's incident, revealed that the victim, who was in his fifties, was critically injured by a "big stone" that penetrated the car window and struck him in the head. It said the victim died instantly despite attempts to save his life.
The statement said that the investigating officers had managed to identify the person who had hurled the rock and he confessed to the crime, adding that the case was referred to the prosecutor general.
