Amnesty slams EU plans to return Syrian refugees to Turkey

Director of Amnesty International Eduard Nazarski has condemned European plans to return refugees and migrants to Turkey.“Turkey is not a safe country for refugees at this moment,” he said.
Meanwhile, other human rights organizations including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), said that it is illegal to forcibly expel asylum-seekers.
The plan for returning refugees is part of a draft deal reached between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Turkey on March 7, whereby the EU will send to Turkey anyone arriving on the Greek islands.
Turkey hosts about three million Syrian refugees and it consistently calls for a no-fly zone over parts of Syria, a step that can reduce the influx of refugees
