Jordanian King Abdullah II (C)
Amman - Petra

The president and board members of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday were sworn in before His Majesty King Abdullah II.
His Majesty said that Jordan has achieved significant progress in global indicators of corruption, thanks to the efforts made by the Commission ever since its establishment.
King Abdullah stressed the importance of building on what has been achieved in that regard, and moving forward in transforming the ACC's plans into reality, and making it a model in the fight against corruption in the region.
Further, the King highlighted the importance of the Commission's role in countering corruption, both legally and institutionally, and in fact, pre-empting it, an achievement that requires enhanced cooperation between the Commission and all regulatory authorities concerned.
His Majesty the King reiterated his full support to the watchdog, the development of its staff and its role in promoting a National Integrity System, which is an important element in the process of comprehensive national reforms.
King Abdullah also stressed need for the ACC to continue its efforts and to play its monitoring role with respect to the protection of the rights of citizens and public money, while maintaining the required secrecy of its work and investigations, leading to the litigation stage.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court, Fayez Tarawneh, and the director of His Majesty King Abdullah's office, Jafar Hassan.
A Royal Decree was issued appointing Abed Al Kharabsheh as president of the Anti-Corruption Commission, and Abdul Hadi Al Alawin, Burhan Akroush, Sabr Al Rawashdeh, Talal Al Shorufat and Fairoz Amro as members, as of today Sunday, the first of February, 2015.
In an interview with Petra, Al Kharabsheh said that the Board listened to the directives of His Majesty the King regarding the work and performance of the ACC, in order to fulfill its duties in a transparent, outstanding and responsible manner.
He pointed out that His Majesty underlined the importance of completing investigations conducted by the ACC with utmost confidentiality, and not to publish any news in any manner that could lead to personal targeting.
