The Arab Human Right Committee met here today at the Arab League Headquarters to discuss a host of administrative and internal issues as well as its method of work during the next period. The Committee's Rapporteur Asim Al Rabab'aa, who chaired the meeting, told reporters on the sidelines of the meeting that the committee will discuss over two days a number of administrative issues related to the development of the work of the committee which is concerned with the Arab states' implementation of the Arab Human Rights Charter. Al Rabab'aa added that the main objective of the committee is to receive reports from Arab countries on their commitment to the implementation of the Arab Human Rights Charter, noting that 14 Arab states have so far singed the charter and provide annual reports on the progress achieved in the field of human rights at the national level. A session will later be held to discuss national reports with high-level delegations from the countries that present the report and the Arab Human Rights Committee, Al Rabab'aa added.
