Chairman of the Radio and Television Union and Head of the Executive Office of the Arab Information Ministers Essam el Amir pressed for the need for adopting an objective media approach, especially when reporting about Middle East developments.
The remarks were made by Amir at the fourth meeting of the Arab Information Ministers' Executive Office which opened here Monday under chairmanship of Egypt.
The meeting was attended by Arab League Assistant Secretary General Ambassadress Haifa Abu Ghazala with the participation of members of the executive office from Kuwait, Morocco, Tunisia, Algiers, Djibouti, UAE and Iraq as well as representatives of the Arab media unions.
Amir also pointed out that the meeting comes at a very critical time for the Middle East region which has been engulfed by terrorism, sectarian conflicts and disputes among political and extremist terrorist forces.
He said such conflicts have strongly harmed the Arab nation's infrastructure and displaced the biggest number of people in the history of the Arab region.
Amir also called on the media to play a role in defending the security and stability of the region as well as the Islamic religion.
Meanwhile, Arab League Assistant Secretary General Ambassadress Abu Ghazala asserted the importance of the meeting in light of the ferocious campaign by the international media against the Islamic discourse and defamation of Muslims worldwide.
