Secretary General of the Arab League (AL) Nabil el Araby on Monday received Commissioner for Peace and Security of the African Union (AU) Smail Chergui.
The meeting dealt with promoting cooperation and political consultation between the two sides to meet challenges facing the African continent and the Arab region, especially in light of changes taking place in many countries in the two regions.
Chergui told reporters that his meeting with Araby also tackled recent regional developments and hotbeds of tension in the African continent and the Arab world.
We have reached a common vision on ways to deal with these crises, including the fight against terrorism and the situation in Somalia, Yemen and Libya, he added.
The two sides agreed to hold periodic meetings between the AL and the AU's Commission for Peace and Security every six months.
