Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi declared his full support on Thursday for Saudi-led air strikes against Huthi rebels in Yemen.
"I affirm complete support" for the campaign, he said at a meeting of Arab foreign ministers. "It is an operation against targets belonging to the Huthis who committed a coup."
The ministers were meeting to prepare for an Arab summit in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheik over the weekend that will consider forming a joint Arab military force.
Saudi Arabia said it had launched the bombing raids to reinstate what it called the legitimate government of President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi, who has been holed up in main southern city Aden since fleeing the rebel-controlled capital Sanaa last month.
It said it had assembled a coalition of more than 10 countries for the military intervention, including five Gulf Arab states and Egypt.
