Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League Haifaa Abu-Ghazala extolled the speech made by Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi at the 69th UN General Assembly session on a host of Arab issues.
President Al-Sisi, speaking on behalf of the Arab group of states, outlined the Arab stances on such issues as the combat against terrorism, support to the effort to stabilize Libya, Syria and Iraq, and backing the legistimate rights of the Palestinian people, she said. Haifaa, also head of the League's information and communication sector, appreciated Al-Sisi's remarks on the Palestinian question as the central issue for all Arab states, and his call for finding a solution that could meet the Palestinians' aspirations for establishing their independent state within the pre-June, 1967, borderlines.
She also commended Al-Sisi's address to the Climate Summit held on the sidelines of the UNGA session.
Ambassador Haifaa spoke highly of Egypt's mediation in the ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian groups in Gaza Strip and the country's preparations for an international conference, due here on October 12, on reconstruction of the Strip in the wake of the Israeli aggression.
Meanwhile, the League's Assistant Secretary General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories Affairs Mohammad Sobeih said President Al-Sisi's activities at the UNGA affirmed Egypt's strong presence on the international arena. President Al-Sisi's trip to the United States helped bring the bilateral ties back to the normal track which will form a new basis for the US-Arab relations in general, Ambassador Sobeih added.
