The Council of the Arab League (AL) strongly condemned as "heinous crime" the killing of 21 Egyptians by the terrorists of the Daesh group in Libya.
In a statement on Wednesday, the highest body of the league extended its condolences to the victims' families over their loss, stressing the need for a political solution for the Libyan crisis.
The Council expressed full support for Egypt in its war on terror groups and all measures being taken by the Egyptian government to eradicated terrorism.
It also expressed understanding of the Egyptian airstrike on Daesh positions in the Libyan city of Derna, asserting that all the member countries have the right to defend themselves and protect their citizens from any threats according to the AL and the UN charters.
The Council emphasized the commitment of its member countries to boost cooperation to dry up the terror groups' resources of funding.
Meanwhile, Qatar has expressed reservations about the phrase of "the Egyptian airstrike on Daesh positions in the Libyan city of Derna" that came in Wednesday's statement.
