The Arab League General Secretariat said on Wednesday it received an official memorandum from the Saudi delegation to the league expressing the Saudi government's desire to postpone the meeting of the Joint Arab Defense Council which was due to be held on Thursday.
The League secretariat said it received similar memos from the delegates of Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates supporting the Saudi request.
It added that the postponement came after consultations made by Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby with Egypt, the chairman of the Arab summit, pointing out that a new date will be set later for the meeting.
