Arab League Secretary General Nabil al Araby called for an all-out confrontation against terrorism not through military means only but intellectually, culturally and religiously.
The comprehensive confrontation requires Arab efforts under a defense mechanism of the joint Arab defense agreement, Araby told an advisory meeting of the Arab League Council held at the permanent delegates' level.
The pan-Arab body supports Egypt against rising terrorism, which recently targeted Egyptian soldiers in North Sinai, he said.
He offered the Arab League's condolences to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi over the victims of the terror attacks in North Sinai.
He also extended condolences to Jordanian King Abdullah II and the Jordanian people over the murder of pilot Moaz al al-Kasasbeh, who was burned alive by Daesh terrorists in Syria.
Effective moves have to been taken to find solutions to crises in the Arab region, either in Syria, Yemen or Libya, he added.
He called for revising the religious discourse and the educational system in Arab countries to seek active means to combat terrorism.
On a different note, the Arab League chief paid tribute to late Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, saying the Arab world has lost a great leader known for his wisdom, courage and boldness in defending Arab and Muslim causes.
He also greeted new Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, wishing him success in leading the kingdom.
Meanwhile, Jordan's permanent delegate Beshr al Khasawna said the heinous crime perpetrated by the Daesh gang against the Jordanian pilot will not undermine Jordan's determination to fight terrorism and shadowy groups.
