The Arab Parliament on Tuesday stated support to the legitimate authority in Yemen, urging the belligerent parties to reach a mutually-acceptable solution to the crisis through dialogue.
Wrapping up the fourth session of its third term here, the parliament strongly condemned, in a statement, the continued detention of President Abd-Rabbo Mansour Hadi and Prime Minister Khaled Bahah as well as other senior government officials and MPs and urged the Houthis to release them without delay.
The parliamentarians expressed grave concern over the accelerated deterioration of the security and political situations in the country.
They highlighted the need to protect the national unity and territorial of Yemen and called on the Arab foreign ministers to convene an urgent meeting to decide the appropriate responses.
They renewed support to the GCC initiative for peace in Yemen and the outcomes of the national dialogue including the agreement on peace and partnership.
They stated opposition to any bid to hamper the normal activities of the state bodies and called for ending all arms displays in Sanaa and other Yemeni cities, according to the statement.
They also rejected all kinds of foreign interferences in the domestic affairs of Yemen, particularly the provision of weapons to any of the belligerent parties which could lead to further worsening of the situation.
On the combat against terrorism, they called on all states of the world to join forces to eradicate terrorism through collective financial, cultural and educational measures such as the dialogue among people with different cultures.
They also warned against use of double standards or discrimination based on racial or religious grounds, in addressing terrorist actions.
They blasted Israel for persisting in the settlement expansions and the policy of collective punishment against the Palestinians in the occupied territories including the demolition of Palestinians' homes in the holy city of Jerusalem.
