A meeting of the Arab Parliament kicked off at the Arab League (AL) on Tuesday as part of its first legislative term under its Speaker Ahmed Al Jarwan.
In his inaugural speech, Jarwan said that the Arab region has been recently suffering from several dangers that jeopardize its existence.
This state of affairs, he added, requires working to overcome all inter-Arab differences and enhancing inter-Arab solidarity within the framework of a joint Arab vision to stand up to these dangers and challenges and upgrade the Arab nation.
These efforts, he added, should start with upgrading the Arab individual and educating him about his responsibility towards these challenges.
Then these efforts should be focused on the Arab family and then the educational and cultural institutions, ending with the Arab decision-making centers, he pointed out.
He urged the Arab leaders to unify the Arab nation to square up for overcoming these challenges and building an Arab force that pilots the Arab nation to safety.
As for the Palestinian issue, he asserted that it will remain the core cause of the Arab nation. He underlined the necessity of hammering out a final solution to the Palestinian issue through restoring the Palestinian rights atop of which setting up their independent state with Al Quds as its capital.
Jarwan noted that plots that are aimed at destabilizing the Arab nation are now clear to everybody. The state of affairs in Iraq, Syria, Libya and Somalia constitute a major threat to the Arab national security, he added.
