
A total of 98 terrorists were killed Friday while 23 others arrested during an extensive operation in North Sinai, the army said in a statement.
Units of the police and army continued the Operation "Right of the Martyr", launched on Monday, to eliminate terrorist elements in Rafah, Sheikh Zuweid and Arish in North Sinai, the statement said.
Also, four vehicles and seven motorbikes were destroyed during the ground operation under cover from the air forces, the statement added.
As many as 32 hotbeds were destroyed, 13 explosive devices defused, the army said.
The army blew up about 1.5 tons of ammonium nitrate, a cache of C4 explosives during the crackdown, the statement added.
Four soldiers were killed while three officers and four personnel were injured during the operation, the statement further said.
The army announced on television in the early hours Tuesday morning that it launched the extensive operation dubbed 'the Right of the Martyr' on Monday in the volatile North Sinai region to root out terror insurgents.
