Minister for Arab Affairs Tarek Adel
Red Sea - Arab Today

Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Tarek Adel warned from the continuation of the Syrian crisis due to lack of a political solution.

In exclusive statements to MENA on Sunday, Adel said Egypt is keen on participating in international conferences that tackle the Syrian crisis and ways to help refugees and countries hosting them.

This came on the sidelines of the two-day Resilience Development Forum (RDF) that opened Sunday under the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) at the Dead Sea in Jordan.

Adel added that he will clarify in his speech on Monday the importance of reaching a solution for the Syrian and Syrians' crises.

He pointed out that Egypt is hosting 500,000 Syrian refugees who benefit from all the Egyptians' privileges and rights, adding that this puts more burden on the Egyptian government.

Focusing on the wide range of resilience-building responses required to address the devastating situation inside Syria as well as for refugees from Syria and the communities hosting them, the Resilience Development Forum comprises three main components: Resilience-building Innovation Marketplace, Topical Roundtable Discussions and High Level Panels.

Outcomes of the Resilience Development Forum will be captured in a set of key milestones that will form the basis for a bolder, collectively-endorsed Resilience Agenda. The aim is to integrate humanitarian and development components of the crisis response, strengthen existing collaboration and expand partnerships to include new critical actors, including the private sector.

The Resilience Development Forum is organized within the framework of the Regional Refugee and Resilience Plan (3RP) and the Regional United Nations Development Group. The scope of the RDF includes the six countries most affected by the Syria crisis – Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, in addition to Syria itself.
