Cairo - BNA

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ghanim bin Fadhl Al-Bouainain has today led Bahrain’s delegation to 139th session of the Arab League ministerial session in Cairo under the chairmanship of Secretary-general Dr. Nabeel Al-Arabi. Outgoing session president Lebanese Foreign Minister Dr. Adnan Mansour hailed the initiative of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to establish the Arab Human Rights Court. He described the proposed tribunal as a quantum leap and a major catalyst for the pan-Arab efforts to promote human rights. The session approved to include HM the King’s initiative on the agenda of the forthcoming Arab Summit, scheduled to be held on March 25-26 in Doha, Qatar. The ministerial council hailed Bahrain for submitting its report to the Arab Human Rights Committee, outlining its efforts to promote and protect human rights. The Arab delegations have also backed the nomination of the Kingdom of Bahrain in its bid to become member of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for the term 2015-2017. Addressing the session, Mr. Al-Bouainain stressed the importance of backing the efforts undertaken by Dr. Al-Arab to promote the mechanisms of the pan-Arab work.
