The Political Societies Affairs Office at the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, stated that in line with its responsibilities, the Office affirms its assiduity in monitoring the proper application of the Law through constant follow up of conferences held by political societies in order to ensure that they are properly held in accordance with applicable laws and the respective charters of each of the societies.
In this context, and in order to ensure that the status of general conferences of all political societies is clearly presented to the public, the Office publishes below a schedule of general conferences of political societies, demonstrating that the vast majority of political societies are in compliance with the laws and their respective charters.
Moreover, the schedule clearly shows the three societies who are found in violation: Al-Wefaq Society – a lawsuit was filed to modify its status to hold a proper and valid conference; the National Democratic Action Society (Wa’ad) – the Ministry is in the process of taking legal action to ensure that the Society elects a Secretary General in accordance with the Law; and the Justice and Development Movement for failure to hold a general conference without explaining the position of the Society.
The Political Societies Affairs Office emphasized that political action will not be allowed to be adversely affected by violating laws and attempting to undermine the foundations of legitimate political action. The Office assured the respect of the rule of the law and stated that court rulings are binding obligations to all.
