The Bahraini Shura Council today strongly condemned the brutal Israeli assault on the besieged Gaza Strip, which left a heavy death toll among innocent Palestinians, including children, women and elderly people.
It denounced the dangerous Israeli military escalation, condemning the brutal atrocities which contravene basic humanitarian principles enshrined in international treaties and covenants. In a statement today, the Shura Council, slammed the international community, organisations and human rights watchdogs for their indifference as Israel shells the innocent Palestinians, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
"The repressive and revenge policies show that Israel is adamant on aborting all regional and international peace efforts and initiatives aimed to achieve just, comprehensive and permanent peace and restore usurped Arab rights", it said. The council urged all Palestinian factions to join ranks , stressing the necessity of stepping Arab efforts to put an end to the Israeli assault on besieged innocent people in Gaza Strip.
The Council urged a strong pan-Arab stance so as to push the UN Security Council to pass binding resolutions that put an end to Israeli attacks and criminalize their perpetrators. It called upon the international community to assume its political and humanitarian responsibilities towards the Palestinian people and act quickly to put an end to brutal Israeli hostilities which violate the peace process and the international law. The Shura Council reiterated Bahrain's unwavering support for the Palestinians' inalienable right to live in security and peace on its occupied territories and establish its independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.
