Terror Crime Prosecution President Advocate General Ahmed Al-Hammadi today stated that the first instance of the Criminal Court of Appeal ruled in the attempted murder of on-duty policemen, dismissing the appeal filed by three convicts and upholding the 15-year jail term against them.
The Public Prosecution charged seven defendants involved in the case with attempted murder, detonating explosives, criminal arson and illegal rallying and referred them to the High Criminal Court which sentenced them on October 20 to 15 years in prison and ordered the confiscation of the seizures.
"The defendants planted a bomb on Hunainiya Highway, set fire to tyres and detonated the explosive when policemen arrived, which left some of them injured", the court heard. Three of the convicts challenged the verdict before the first High Criminal Court of Appeal which issued its ruling today.
