His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today met His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue.
His Royal Highness praised the historic ties between Bahrain and the UAE and stressed the importance continuing to work together to support lasting regional security and stability.
Turning to the latest regional developments, His Royal Highness highlighted the need for close coordination and joint efforts to confront and reveal the true face of terrorism in the region, which is hidden behind rising evil theocracies. In this regard, His Royal Highness emphasised that while politics may drag people into ideology, it is the ideology itself that must be combated, and he stressed that the international community must have the intellectual integrity to call it out for what it is.
His Royal Highness continued by emphasising Bahrain’s role in providing tactical and logistical support alongside GCC partners and key regional allies, to aid the international coalition’s efforts to eliminate terrorism and its causes. Adding that Bahrain recognises that any attempt to undermine the security of regional partners directly impact its national security, His Royal Highness emphasised the Kingdom’s commitment to the long-term safety of all its citizens and to those of its GCC neighbours.
Finally, His Royal Highness conveyed his regards to the UAE’s leadership, wishing them further progress and prosperity. Furthermore, His Royal Highness thanked Sheikh Abdullah for his participation in the Manama Dialogue and for the UAE’s continued support to the Kingdom of Bahrain, especially through its contributions to housing projects and the GCC Development Programme.
For his part, Sheikh Abdullah expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with His Royal Highness and welcomed his continued support for cooperation between Bahrain and the UAE. Sheikh Abdullah also praised the success of the Manama Dialogue and its insightful discussions on approaches to the security challenges of the region.
