Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministerial Committee for Services and Infrastructure Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received at Gudaibiya Palace today a number of municipal councillors marking the nearing completion of the municipal councils' current session.
He emphasised the key role of the municipal councils in ensuring government services reach citizens. He said developing municipal work depends on cumulative experience gained by citizens and the elected municipal councillors, especially those who were able to win the confidence of the voters many times since the launch of the municipal elections in 2002.
He described the municipal elections as a cornerstone of the reform process spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He urged eligible voters to exercise their electoral right and come out in force to cast their ballots in the forthcoming municipal elections slated for November 22.
