The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today issued the following statement in response to that of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) regarding the questioning of Ali Salman :
"The Ministry of Foreign is deeply concerned about the Human Rights Commission Statement regarding legal investigation of Ali Salman, by the competent authorities in several breaches and violations of the law.
"The ministry is astonished to describe this legal and judicial procedure, which falls within the Kingdom of Bahrain’s jurisdiction as one of the issues of human rights violation, or confiscation of freedom of expression.
"It believes that the Commission statement takes Ali Salman’s investigation out of its legal context altogether, while Bahrain is referring the whole matter to the competent legal and judiciary authorities that necessitates on all parties to abide by its legal decisions in any state that respects the rule of law and ensures a fair trial for all.
"Furthermore, Bahrain guarantees freedom of opinion and expression, as well as exercising of political rights for all in the framework of law and order."
