
Royal Guard Special Force Commander, Major Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has attended the parachute jumping parade took place in the Kingdom of the Netherlands marking the 70th anniversary of airborne landing in World War II, in the presence of a large number of senior Dutch, British and European army officers.
Major Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad attended the exhibition associated the military celebration, which included parading old military vehicles, armored vehicles and personnel carriers that were used in World War II. The exhibition also witnessed documentary photographs showing the landing of paratroopers, allied forces controlled areas and combat operations.
He, during the ceremony, met a number of senior Dutch military officers and exchanged fraternal talks. He expressed delight in attending the event and lauded the high organizational level of the military parades, and hailed friendship ties and cooperation relations bonding the two kingdoms.
The celebrations came to commemorate the liberation of the Netherlands on 17 September 1944 from the Nazi Germany forces by the arrival of thousands of British, Polish and American soldiers to the southeastern parts of the Netherlands. The liberation operation was called Market Garden, which led to the liberation of the country's southeastern parts from the Nazi Germany then.
The celebration also witnessed a simulation of the arrival of the allied forces in 1944 to the Netherlands, among of them hundreds of British paratroopers. The celebration also included military music show executed by Dutch, British and American bands.
