Human Rights Affairs Minister Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman participated in the eighth meeting of the Heads of GCC Governments' Human Rights Bodies, hosted here by the GCC Secretariat-General from September 17 to 18.
The Minister affirmed the importance of GCC meetings in unifying human rights concepts and enhancing joint action in addressing the human rights issues in GCC countries, amid the current challenges requiring concerted efforts.
He said that GCC countries' interest in human rights from both Islamic and human perspectives is a source of pride for GCC peoples, and proves the GCC societies' ability to develop themselves from within without pressure exerted from outside sides.
The meeting discussed proposed bills of GCC Human Rights Declaration and mechanisms to respond to international human rights organisations.
It also discussed the proposed GCC Human Rights Office and the means of activating its mechanisms, as well as a draft Law (system) on Child Protection in the GCC countries.
