
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)'s Chairman Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul received Chairman of the Permanent Specific Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, MP Khalid Abdulaziz Al Shaer, and committee members.
At the meeting, the NIHR's Chairman welcomed the Chairman and members of the Permanent Specific Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and explored with them the National Institution's role in boosting and protecting human rights citing the situation of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the National Institution's role according to its assigned jurisdictions.
MP Al Shaer praised the National Institution's Annual Report 2013, stressing the Institutions key role in spreading the culture of human rights, and he also expressed readiness to provide all support which enable the National Institution accomplish its objectives and jurisdictions, stressing the need to setup a working mechanism in the foreseeable future between the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and the National Institution in order to follow up the National Institution's report recommendations and push the human rights dossier in the service of citizens.
Al Shaer congratulated the National Institution on the European Union (EU)'s Chaillot Award2014 on boosting human rights in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which the National Institution has merited for its accomplishments in the field of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
MP Adel Hameed Jaffar, MP Mohammed Yousef Al-Maarifi, MP Hamad Salim Al Dossary and Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Farhan the National Institution's Secretary-General; Abdullah Al Derazi Deputy Chairman of Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee, and, Yasser Ghanim Shaheen Director of Legal Affairs were present at the meeting.
