Bahraini Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa stressed that the General Secretary of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society was arrested for breaching the law.
The Secretary General had been warned many times, yet he chose to violate the law and make illegal statements, the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported quoting the Minister statements during a meeting with editors-in-chief of local press.
The country was put into a political test since 2011, and it succeed in passing it, said the Minister.
He also mentioned developments since the establishment of the Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI), the approval of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of its recommendations and the commitment of the government to implement them.
Sheikh Rashid also highlighted the fruits of the National Dialogue such as the announcement of amendments to the constitution to add five of articles that were previously proposed by Al-Wefaq in the Council of Representatives.
Moreover, he noted that the Dialogue came to an end when some parties rejected the solutions presented by the Dialogue parties.
As for the Iranian interference in Bahrain, the Minister stressed that "It is better for Iran to care about its citizens as we are by grace of God leading normal lives here, while Iran should respect neighboring countries rather than interfering in our affairs. Those who are more loyal to Iran should leave the country, as Bahrain is for Bahrainis".
In addition, Sheikh Rashid also spoke of the statements of Hezbollah General Secretary on Bahrain, saying that he should dedicate himself for his own affairs and never interfere with Bahrain's internal affairs.
He also stressed that Hezbollah had turned into a terrorist organization due to its actions against Bahrain and other countries.
