
The Director-General of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science Directorate "CID" cautioned from the dangers of cybercrime, the propagation of false information on social media and websites as well as the impersonation of false natural or corporate identity, the commitment of tort and libel, fraud and the implication of some in suspicious terrorist activities.
The CID's Director-General stressed the dangerous consequences and their negative impacts of such acts on societal peace and security and potential risks and challenges to security, which necessitate the setting of techniques and controls on the use of social media.
He urged citizens and residents to assume their responsibilities and ensure the cautious use of social media in order to curb risks and reduce their negative impacts. He also stressed the need to be aware that using sites should be in compliance with the law, Arab customs, norms and traditions and noble ethics that have characterized the Bahraini society throughout the ages.
