
Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa met Wednesday with visiting former British Prime Minister and Special Envoy for the Middle East Quartet Tony Blair.
During the meeting, King Hamad commended efforts exerted by the Quartet to resume the peace process, as well as its continued action towards attaining aspirations of the Palestinian people in establishing its independent state in accordance with the International Legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
He also reiterated the Kingdom's firm stand in support of the peace process, expressing hope for the success of Blair's efforts to reach a fair and comprehensive peaceful settlement to the Middle East conflict.
On his part, Blair briefed the King on the Quartet efforts to resume the long-stalled peace process, particularly on the Palestinian-Israeli track according to the report.
